A grandfather clock with metal dial, hourly chime and oak case, made in Wurttenburg Germany in the 2nd quarter of the 20th century.
This remarkable device with it's stylised Deco dial and solid wood case chimes on the hour. There is an on/off funtion for that you may be pleased to hear though all of our customers are feeling it has a very pleasant note not dissimilar to a town hall bell. It is wound by effortlessly pulling the three weights to the top weekly (three minutes when done and even that part is a experience). Plus from what we have observed here in the shop over the last week, it is keeping excellent time to within a minute a week.
We look forward to further research, and comments, regarding a more accurate date and perhaps even the name and history of the manufacturer.
Condition report; As noted above, the time keeping and weekly maintenance functions are all operating well. There are losses to the painted finish on the dial (please see photographs) and a section of the bun foot at the front right, is missing. This does not affect stability.
Height 198c x 52c x 28c.
Please note there is a surcharge on top of the special $60 fee, for delivery of this item within the metro area.
